PORT JEFFERSON, NY — Unlicensed security guards were caught at a Port Jefferson Restaurant and Bar during a New York State Liquor Authority inspection early Saturday morning, resulting in charges under General Business Law for seven people, Suffolk police said.
In an inspection at about 12:25 a.m. at Curry Club at SaGhar, officers from the 6th Precinct in Selden, Port Jefferson Village constables and fire marshals found eight underage people and issued them summonses for Using Fraudulent Identification in violation of the state's Alcoholic Beverage Control Law, according to police.
There were also 454 people inside, meaning the establishment was over its capacity of 146 people, and it was closed down for the night, police said.
The person in charge of the bar, Indu Kaur, 47, of East Setauket, was charged with employing unlicensed security guards, an unclassified misdemeanor, according to police.
