Description
Looking to re-home our Chesapeake Bay Retriever. He is a very good dog, just has not been a good fit for our family unfortunately. He is a very happy, friendly dog, has never exhibited aggressive behavior. He is pretty well behaved when he is in his contained area, but when he is out, he is very energetic and always on the hunt to chew something. So he can't be left alone anywhere he can get to something. This is our main issue that we can't seem to resolve. He enjoys walks and does well on a leash, but gets a bit jumpy and wound up if he meets other dogs, cats or people that want to talk. Off leash he wants to run and explore but will come back with enough effort. He is not much of a barker, rarely barks. But he does whine when he wants attention. He is fully house broken and crate trained. He runs to his crate if he thinks he is getting treats. Re-homing fee to cover some costs and to make sure he goes to a good responsible and capable home. We have tried to make it work, but it just doesn't seem like it will, and it is not easy to decide to let him go. It is important to us that he goes to a proper home, preferably someone with the experience and capability with dogs of this type. He is about 70-75lbs, good health, has been checked with vet, is due some shots soon, but up to date otherwise. He is chipped and AKC registered in our name. Has not been neutered yet. Breeder recommend waiting until 24 mos for health reasons, vet said 18 mos. He is all medium to dark brown with no markings.
