JOHNSTON, RI—In response to a statewide increase in COVID cases, a new testing site has opened in the Johnston High School parking lot. The facility offers free RNA tests for both symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals and other resources and supplies related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tests are administered by health professionals, who deliver the results in 24 to 72 hours. "I'm sad that we have to have this in this time, but we have to have it," Mayor Joseph Polisena told ABC6."It's an important day for our town. To have this testing here in Johnston, it's amazing." The facility, located in a 40-foot trailer, currently has the capacity to test 100 people a day. "We will test everybody," Polisena told ABC6. "We want to make sure we get a handle on this. I know there's a spike that people are concerned with, but we're going to get through this." For hours and to make an appointment, click here.
