Press release from the City of Colorado Springs: March 24, 2022 The public is invited to attend a public meeting to learn about potential transportation and infrastructure improvements along West Colorado Avenue and adjacent roadways that make up the Midland Corridor. The meeting will be a hybrid that can be attended in person or online. This meeting replaces one from February that was cancelled to due to snow. Register and learn more The project team will present input that has been received throughout development of the study, including consideration of suggested roadway reconfigurations and other targeted transportation improvements. This includes concepts for modifications to Colorado Avenue based on prior studies, new analysis and public feedback with the aim of improving safety, encouraging economic development, and enhancing mobility for all users. The meeting will provide time for questions from the public. The Midland Corridor Transportation Study corridor includes Colorado Avenue, Cucharras Street, Pikes Peak Avenue, and the Midland Trail, from 31st Street on the west to Cimino Drive on the east. The study will identify transportation improvements to address mobility, parking, and safety for all users in the study area, and supports the goals outlined in PlanCOS (link is external), the City's comprehensive planA comprehensive plan is a guiding document that provides a framework for city policies and priorities regarding the physical development of the city. It is a long-range vision of what we want our city to become and is a tool for making decisions about how that vision should be achieved. It outlines strategic steps to make the vision a reality and provides targeted and strategic planning of the physical development of the city., and ConnectCOS (link is external), the City's 20-year transportation plan. The study is funded by the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA). Next steps after the April public meeting are to finalize the study summary report and develop a list of proposed projects for the corridor.
