JOHNSTON, RI—Unofficial results from the November 3 election in Johnston are in, with the majority of the town's voter's showing support for Donald Trump's campaign and voting against passing the statewide ballot question, which did pass and will change the official name of the state by dropping "Providence Plantations" from its title. According to Rhode Island Secretary of State Nellie M. Gorbea, voters in Rhode Island overwhelmingly chose to vote by mail, with 83 percent sending mail-in ballots compared the the nine percent of voters who voted by mail in the 2016 general election. Voters in Johnston were choosing sides in the presidential race, a U.S. House race, a U.S. Senate race, state General Assembly races, a local Town Council race, and one statewide ballot question.
