JOHNSTON, RI — Johnston has suspended all hearings in municipal court until further notice. The court will be open for normal business hours at this time for those wishing to pay parking tickets in person. The Johnston Police Department is also limiting access to police headquarters. Police are requesting that the public refrain from coming into the station. If non-emergency police assistance is needed, residents are requested to call 401-231-8100. The department has suspended the following services until further notice: the following services until further notice: obtaining copies of reports, VIN Inspections, car seat inspections/installations and fingerprint/background checks. These measures are necessary to ensure the health and safety of our officers and community. The Senior Center, Recreation Center, Library and Court House until further notice. Public buildings have been directed to be properly cleaned and sanitized during their closure in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Mayor's Office determined it is a necessary measure in order to protect the health, safety and well-being of all Johnston residents.
