Press release from the Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce: March 22, 2022 64.6 Downtown, in collaboration with 100 Families, a United Way of Fort Smith Area initiative, will be hosting a Poverty Simulation at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Smith on Thursday, April 7th 2pm to 4pm. The University of Central Arkansas Center for Community and Economic Development will facilitate the Poverty Simulation. The objective of this simulation is to bring awareness to the needs of our community through policy maker engagement by simulating poverty in an experiential setting. Through this simulation, participants will better understand the realities of poverty that affect individuals and families throughout the River Valley. This event is a natural partnership between 64.6 Downtown and the 100 Families Initiative, which both seek to improve access and remove barriers to opportunities through systems change and collaborative relationships.
