Description

SMITHFIELD, RI — National Grid will be conducting aerial inspections of transmission lines in several RI communities starting Friday. The inspections are scheduled for Cranston, Johnston, North Smithfield, Smithfield, Warwick and West Warwick starting Friday. Residents are advised that inspections will include helicopters hovering over transmission structures as high-resolution photos are taken. The inspections will support engineering analysis of the transmission line structures. The aerial inspects complete the ground-level inspections of National Grid's transmission system across more rugged and isolated terrain. The inspections are looking for signs of wear on the lines, condition of lightning-protections devices, leaning or damaged structures, loose or broken wires, broken or chipped insulator equipment and trees leaning toward power lines or into transmission corridors. Those with questions are invited to contact National Grid.
