Based on Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds' emergency proclamation issued Monday regarding public health protocols, Ames Parks and Recreation has temporarily suspended many recreation opportunities and revised facility offerings.
All swim lessons, group fitness classes, tennis lessons, and organized sports leagues for youth and adults have been canceled, postponed, or changed to a virtual format. Participants should receive updates and notifications via email.
Lap swimming by reservation will continue at Ames Municipal Pool. Basketball at the Community Center Gymnasium will also continue by reservation and remains limited to two people per hoop.
The Ames/ISU Ice Arena will only be offering Figure Freestyle and Stick & Helmet sessions with a maximum of 15 skaters allowed per session. No pick-up hockey games are allowed during Stick & Helmet. Interested skaters must pre-register for each session they wish to attend. No walk-in registrations and spectators are allowed.
