Description

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — While RI is encouraging mail-in voting for those wishing to vote in the June 2 presidential primary, East Providence is providing in-person voting options for those who cannot vote by mail. There will be one polling place open in the city at Martin Middle School on election day, or residents can vote at the Board of Canvassers under emergency ballot rules through June 1. While East Providence City Hall is closed to the pubic, the canvassing clerk will be in the office May 20 through June 1 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for those who need to vote in person. To apply for an emergency mail ballot, residents must obtain an application from the local Board of Canvassers and return it by 4 p.m. the day before the election. After receiving a ballot, residents will then be able to vote at the board of canvassers, take it with them and vote prior to June 1, or authorize someone to pick up the ballot for you. All mail ballots must be received by the State Board of Elections at 2000 Painfield Pike STE A in Cranston by 8 p.m. on June 2. Voters are asked to contact their local Board of Canvassers for more information or with any questions.
