EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — The Chairman of the House Business Committee is pushing for more help for those small businesses adversely affected by the coronavirus crisis.
Rep. Gregg Amore (East Providence) is urging the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation to expedite capital through the Small Business Development Fund that was included in the Fiscal Year 2020 budget.
"COVID-19 has decimated our small businesses and those that are still in operation are struggling to remain open," Amore said. "The backbone of our state's economy needs help and it is imperative that RI Commerce tap into the Small Business Development Fund so that more of our small businesses are not forced to close their doors for good."
Gov. Raimondo said last week during her coronavirus news conference that she planned to see open up more sources of assistance for struggling small business.
