EAST PROVIDENCE—Unofficial results from the November 3 election in East Providence are in, with voters showing overwhelming support for Joe Biden's campaign and other Democratic candidates and voting in favor of passing the statewide ballot question. The passing of Question 1 in Rhode Island means the official name of the state will change, dropping "Providence Plantations" from its title. According to Rhode Island Secretary of State Nellie M. Gorbea, voters in Rhode Island overwhelmingly chose to vote by mail, with 83 percent sending mail-in ballots compared the the nine percent of voters who voted by mail in the 2016 general election. Voters in East Providence were choosing sides in the presidential race, a U.S. House race, a U.S. Senate race, a state General Assembly race, local School Committee races, one statewide ballot question, and a local ballot question.
