Thai Devil Crabs

Description

I bought 2 Thai Devil Crabs from Petco on Saturday or Monday. They were sold as aquatic crabs and I had a 60 gallon fish tank. The guy seemed to be knowledgeable enough about them, and so I bought them without doing proper research. Uprooted a few live plants, as I expected. As long as properly fed, usually didn't bother the fish. Then I read up on them a little bit. They're semi aquatic crabs. Need land to go on to. Likes to burrow in sand or mud and while needs moisture to breathe properly, they are not fully aquatic. Yeah...great. I'd rather they were healthy and thrive than just survive in a tank for a little while because they look neat. Put them in a 10 gallon I had on hand, bought some sand as a temporary fix. But while I like them, I do not feel like spending a whole lot of money on crabs I bought to go into an established tank. They are free to a good home. I paid $20 for the pair. However, I lost my receipt somehow, so I cannot return them for a refund. They're fairly docile and don't tend to be too territorial. You need at least a 20, preferably 30/40 gallon set up with water and sand, a filter capable of being in lower water and plenty of places for them to crawl around, explore and feel safe. They also like live plants. They eat brine shrimp, sinking fish pellets, bottom feeder wafers and sometimes live plants.
