EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — Nearly a half million dollars are available to East Providence organizations to go toward prevention, preparedness, and response to the coronavirus. The city said it is soliciting proposals for $448,348 in community development block grants geared toward coronavirus funds. Categories include economic development, public facilities, affordable housing and public services. Applications and technical assistance are available by calling David Bachrach at401-435-7536, mailing a request to: Community Development Division, 145 Taunton Ave., East Providence, RI 02914 or e-mailing [email protected]. Applications are due Aug. 7 by 4 p.m. Proposals will be evaluated by a Community Development Office and presented during a virtual public hearing on Aug. 11 at 3 p.m. A link for the public hearing can be found here or residents can join by calling 833-5480282, Webinar ID: 918 0586 4416. The public hearing will start a comment period that runs through Aug. 19 at 4 p.m. Written comments regarding the recommended funding should be directed to David Bachrach Community Development Division using the contact information above. All comments must be received by the last day of the comment period to be reviewed and considered.
