Description

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — East Providence will begin an automated trash cart collection program beginning in August. East Providence residents will each receive one, 95-gallon cart free of charge from the city, with additional carts available for purchase. Carts will be delivered starting in the Rumford area first and then delivered throughout the city. "We are asking the public to be patient as the delivery process may take several weeks," Department of Public Works officials said. Beginning Aug. 3, all trash must be placed securely within the cart for pick up. Any items placed outside of the cart or in a different container will not be picked up. Elderly residents or those with special needs can request a 65-cart instead by calling the DPW. Residents are asked to place trash carts curbside after 3 p.m. in the night prior to pick up. Carts must be placed in the street at least three apart with wheels turned toward the curb. Residents who receive a cart are reminded not to start using them until Aug. 3.
