Please apply on our website: Position Title: Maintenance Painter Date: March 2022 Reports to: Director of Preservation and Maintenance FLSA: Non-Exempt/Part-time/Hourly Position Overview: Support the organization's preservation and maintenance program by performing painting related duties and assisting with a variety of manual maintenance and cleaning activities, in accordance with established guidelines and procedures. Painting related duties: • Removes rot, loose paint or damaged plaster with attention to detail. • Prepares surfaces using methods including plaster wall repair, the use of epoxies, fillers sealers and joint compound. • Identifies appropriate primers and finishes. • Masks, removes, covers, or otherwise protects furniture, hardware, trim, and other non-painted surfaces. • Applies paint to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers and other tools. • May apply wallpaper, specialty finishes, and glazes. • Complies with chemical and waste storage and disposal regulations and best practices. • Assists with building scaffolding according to safety regulations. • Maintains clean brushes, tools and work area. General Maintenance duties: • Performs general maintenance that does not require a specialized technician. Examples may include reglazing windows, cleaning gutters, and repairing doors and other building fixtures. • Performs routine maintenance on building systems. • Assist with moving furniture and other items as needed. • Performs other maintenance and cleaning related duties as needed Preparation, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • High school diploma • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers. • Knowledge of painting techniques, general carpentry and repair. • Ability to use hand tools and power tools. • Related experience preferred. Working Conditions/Physical Demands: • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces, stand/walk for prolonged periods. • Must be able to work flexible hours as needed, including some weekends • Exposure to chemicals included in commercial cleaning products and paint. • Works inside and outside including during inclement weather, such as heat, rain, cold and snow.
