Description

Panel discussion on understanding & confronting White Adjacency in communities of color As discussions surrounding the importance of racial diversity in the workplace have become increasingly popular an unspoken truth continues to be untold. This truth is called White Adjacency. White adjacency occurs when people of color have access to, utilize, and sometimes receive benefits similar to those identified as white. The invisibility of whiteness can make it difficult for people of color to see how we also strengthen systems of oppression. This panel discussion will explore and unpack the various ways that white supremacy is consciously and subconsciously perpetuated in South Asian, Latino and Black communities and what we can do to address it. Meet our Panelists: David Thomas, Founder & Executive Director of True Chicago Gerardo Rodriguez, Senior Manager of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at United Airlines Cindu Thomas, Founder of Shakti Diversity and Equity Training Priya Shah, Founder & Executive Director of The Simple Good Panel Agenda: 5:30-6:30pm - Drinks & Music by C-Dub 6:30-8:00pm - Panel Discussion 8:00-9:00pm - Networking, Drinks & Music by DJ C-Dub Space is limited.
