Description

Join us at the Providence Stormwater Innovation Center in Roger Williams Park to learn about stormwater and how it affects our local waters! Join us at the Providence Stormwater Innovation Center in Roger Williams Park to learn about stormwater, where it comes from, what’s in it and how it affects our local rivers and streams. We will demonstrate how to monitor and track changes to water quality. We supply the microscope! We will also tour some of the green infrastructure projects that capture and treat stormwater runoff before it enters Roger Williams Park ponds. You will learn which plants thrive in green infrastructure practices, how to create a healthy ecosystem within a project and how you can create your own beautiful rain garden at home. We will meet at the Seal House at 10:30 AM. It is a close walk from the carousel, where you can find parking and restrooms. If you are interested in transportation from Aquidneck Island, we are offering a free bus from Middletown. The bus will depart from Gaudet Middle School (1113 Aquidneck Ave, Middletown, RI 02842) at 9:30 AM. Bus seats are limited, so if you would like to be included in the count, please indicate that during checkout. When arriving at the school, park in the lot rather than the bus circle. The event will take place rain or shine. Please contact Merit Shalom with any questions or concerns via email at merit.shalom@cleanoceanaccess or by phone at (401) 236-2561. We look forward to having you join us!
