NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — After canceling New Port Richey's largest festival in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Chasco Fiesta is back, and it's going to be a big one, said event organizers. The 10-day festival returns Friday, celebrating the 100th year since it was founded in 1922. The festival attracts thousands of people with both a street and boat parade, a Native American festival, carnival, a lineup of headline entertainment offering nightly concerts, food and craft vendors. The Chasco Fiesta is open from noon to 10:30 p.m. daily from Friday, March 26, through April 3. Most of the activities will take place at Sims Park in New Port Richey. There is a $5 charge to enter the park, except Monday when the fiesta will host a free Native American Day. This year, the carnival has moved to Harry Schwettman Education Center at 5520 Grand Blvd. to accommodate more rides. There's no admission and a free shuttle will run from Sims Park to the carnival. Ride wrist bands will be available for sale for $30 each or attendees can purchase individual tickets at $1.50 each, 20 tickets for $30, or 50 tickets for $60. Highlights include the Meares Plumbing Chasco Fiesta Street Parade hosted by the Holiday Rotary Club, featuring more than 100 floats, on Saturday, March 26, from 1 to 4 p.m. Click here for information on road closures. On Sunday, March 27, the Chasco Car, Truck and Bike Show will take place from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. On Tuesday, March 29, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., the Chasco Fiesta Bowling Tournament will take place at Lane Glo Bowl South. On April 1, the Greater Pasco Chamber of Commerce will host a golf tournament. And the annual boat parade along the Cotee River through downtown New Port Richey will take place Saturday, April 2 from 1 to 3 p.m. This year's music lineup features Joy FM Family Night with three-time Grammy-nominated Rhett Walker, who will perform Friday, March 25, from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Walker's most successful single to date, "Believer," spent 23 weeks in the Top 10 on Christian radio. Also on stage during the festival will be a Tribute to Rock with Hotel California, a tribute to the Eagles, along with the Bearded Brothers, Sonegrey and Jam Jones, performing Saturday, March 26 from 3:30 to 11 p.m. A Bay Area Showcase featuring performances by Odyssey Road, the Embry Brothers Band, the Peyton Monarch Band and the Moses Greyhound Band is set for Sunday, March 27 from 1 to 9 p.m. On Monday, March 28, Native American musicians Shelly Morningsong & Fabian Fontanelle and Lowery Begay, along with world champion hoop dancers, the Aztec Fire Dancers, the River Spirit Play dancers and storytellers will take the stage from 4 to 10 p.m. On tap Tuesday, March 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. are The Black Honkeys. Ruth Eckerd Hall on the Road will present country recording artist Chase Bryant and special guest Drew Baldridge on Saturday, April 2, at 7 p.m. General admission tickets for the Chase Bryant concert are $10. Reserved seats are priced at $40 and $20. VIP tickets are priced at $60 and include a premium seat and two beers. Ruth Eckerd Hall on the Road returns for the final concert of the festival featuring Night Ranger with special guest Fire & Ice Sunday, April 3, at 7 p.m. General admission tickets for the Night Ranger concert are $20. Reserved seats are priced at $55, $45 and $25. VIP tickets priced at $79 include a premium seat and two beers.
