Press release from the Northport-East Northport Union Free School District: March 25, 2022 Two students were recognized during the March 17 Northport-East Northport Board of Education meeting for their work in the business and family and consumer sciences departments. Luke Kaiser was selected as the business department's Rotary student of the month, while Marissa Kang was selected for the family and consumer sciences department. Senior Luke has taken a wide variety of business courses and is a member of the Academy of Finance. He notes his trip to MetLife Stadium with his sports marketing class as being an inspiration for his interest in a career in business. Academy of Finance Coordinator Allison Schwabish says Luke "has a strong moral character." "Everything that Luke does, he touches gold," she added. Luke will be attending Lehigh University in the fall and plans to pursue a career in business. Junior Marissa was recognized as being an incredibly diligent worker in early childhood education courses. In addition to supporting young students in the school's childcare program her freshman year, she has excelled in child development courses as well. "With a smile on her face, Marissa is always motivated to learn," said Chairperson of Family & Consumer Sciences Carlos Falcón. As a junior, Marissa has not yet decided on her post high school plans, but does intend to pursue a career working with children.
