EAST GREENWICH, RI — When the children come back to the playgrounds in East Greenwich following the new coronavirus health crisis, they will have some new improvements to look forward to at Fairfield. State Rep. Justine Caldwell announced that the Department of Environmental Management has awarded the town a $137,600 matching recreation grant for universally accessible equipment at Fairfield Playground. The grant go toward the installation of the equipment, as well as a bench, safety surfacing, a walkway and new fencing. "At a time when we've been staying at home for weeks, it feels good to think about this project and the way it will improve the opportunities for kids of every ability to enjoy the outdoors," said Caldwell, who represents East Greenwich and West Greenwich. "We will be able to safely enjoy resources like playgrounds again soon, and I find hope in knowing how much our community will appreciate the new, improved Fairfield Playground. I look forward to enjoying it with my own kids."
