Celebrate women's history this month with the Belmont Public Library and these insightful programs:
On March 22nd in the Assembly Room, Wendy Murphy, JD will present on the role of woman's clubs in the fight for suffrage, the Equal Rights Amendment, and social change over the last century. Murphy is Adjunct Professor of Sexual Violence and Law Reform, and Director of the Women's and Children's Advocacy Project at New England Law | Boston and an impact litigator specializing in women's and children's constitutional and civil rights. On March 30th in the Assembly Room, Martha Chiarchiaro will lead us through the highlights of fifteen women painters over the past five centuries. As a sampling, we'll view the Tudor court paintings of Levinia Teerlinc, the drama of Artemisia Gentileschi, the glamour of Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun, the maternal paintings of Mary Cassatt, and the boldness of Georgia O'Keeffe.
