Your Arlington Last Updated: 24 March 2022 Written by Karin Turer It's virtual: Join us from anywhere in the world The 13th Annual Ciclismo Classico Bike Travel Film Festival is a virtual event sponsored by an Arlington-based business. The festival celebrates travel and human-powered adventure on wheels. You don't have to be a cyclist to enjoy journeys featuring people young and old, from Alaska to the Alps and beyond. Those involved share an evening of short films and good online company that will delight and inspire any attendee. While the in-person festival in Arlington is on hold for one more season, we're excited to make the festival accessible to adventure-lovers anywhere in the world. This is the only English-language festival devoted solely to travel by bicycle, but anyone can enjoy these tales of explorers, ages 17 to 77, enjoying the world and the outdoors. Enjoy nine unique films from all over the world, many of which celebrate their U.S. or world premiere at the event. "Distant Dharma" follows adventurer Rebecca Rusch as she sets out to ride a fat bike 350 miles across the frozen Alaskan wilderness. There are wanderlust-inducing adventures in the Alps ("Bikepacking Munich Nice") and in Oman ("Bikepacking the Sultanante of Oman") with camerawork that will take your breath away and get you packing your bags. A Korean short film, "Mr. Sisyphus," is about a teacher starting to ride after being fed up with classroom-by-Zoom. We also celebrate our first teen-directed film from new filmmaker Frederick Joseph Garnerone, titled "4 Countries, 4 Bikes, 1 Day." When: Thursday, March 24, at 7 p.m. EST (festival is available for viewing until Monday, March 28, at 11:59 p.m. EST). Where: Anywhere you want. Join with far-flung friends and family in watching these films! Tickets are $21 per household >> A portion of festival proceeds go to the nonprofit Adventure Cycling Association.
