BURRILLVILLE, RI — Are you looking to add a new member to your farm family? If so, the Burrillville Animal Control is looking to find a home for a female pot-bellied pig in need of a new home. The two pigs have been at the animal control department all week. The younger pig, an eight-month-old named Porky, has already been spoken for, but the department is still looking to find a home for the female, a grey nine-year-old named Pearl. Following an ultrasound, she does not appear to be pregnant, though there it is possible she is too early along to tell. "Please note: Most locals have zoning requirements in order to keep pigs," the department cautioned. "Pot belly pigs are swine and are considered livestock, not exotic house pets ... They are a lot of work and a long term commitment. " Anyone who takes the pig must be in a properly zoned area and have a secure containment area to keep it in. For more information, reach out to the Burrillville Animal Control Department.
