MOKENA, Ill. — The Village of Mokena has issued a third statement on the health and status of Mayor Frank Fleischer.
"The mayor has completed the procedure that was previously planned before his injury," the March 24 statement reads. "He is resting comfortably and recovering. The mayor anticipates returning to a regular work schedule as soon as possible. He and his family thank the Mokena community for their continued support."
Fleischer has missed several meetings after falling in his home in February. He was first treated at Silver Cross Hospital for the fall before being transferred to University of Chicago Hospital for a previously planned procedure, according to the Village.
Trustee George Metanias has been serving as mayor pro-tem at the Village Board meetings in Fleischer's absence.
