Part time (19 hours p/week)Open until filled The La Grange Public Library is seeking a welcoming and customer service-oriented Access Services Associate to assist Library customers. Located in the heart of downtown, the La Grange Public Library serves an active and engaged community, is fine free and focused on equity, diversity and inclusion. This position supports the Access Services department of the Library through: Assisting customers with their library accounts, including registration and renewal, check out and reserving and picking up materialsPromoting Library resources during interaction with customersResolving account issues including lost or damaged materialsManaging materials to ensure they are in good condition and available to customers through tasks like emptying the book drops, checking in, sorting, shelving, shelf-reading and searching for items on lists as assigned Key qualifications include: One year of experience in a customer focused environment (ideally working with all ages of the general public)Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writingSkill in operating a personal computer, PC applications and electronic resourcesProblem solving skills to assist in determining priorities and finding timely solutions to customer and workplace concernsAbility to accurately sort and file alphabetically and numerically Employees must be fully vaccinated (as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) for COVID-19 within 45 days of initial hire.
