JOLIET, IL — Joliet police announced Friday that Will County Jail inmate Rajshun Stovall Jr. may be responsible for numerous burglaries around the city. Following several vehicle burglaries along Cowles Avenue, Joliet police pulled over Stovall's vehicle in the 600 block of Wilcox Street on Thursday afternoon. Officers recovered a loaded gun as well as several items taken from the string of recent daytime burglaries, police spokesman Dwayne English announced. Joliet police say Stovall was charged with three counts of burglary to a motor vehicle, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of stolen property and criminal damage to property. Shortly before 1:10 p.m., police learned that someone tried to break into a vehicle in the 600 block of Cowles Avenue. At the scene, patrol officers learned that several other vehicles parked in the area were also burglarized. One of the vehicles had its window shattered with a landscaping brick. Joliet police say they had a description of the burglar and information about his getaway vehicle. After being stopped by police on Wilcox, "Stovall was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun in his pants and he was placed into custody," English announced. "Officers observed suspected proceeds from vehicle burglaries inside of the vehicle." Joliet police had Stovall's vehicle towed away and impounded. "It is believed that Stovall may be responsible for numerous motor vehicle burglaries. This case remains under investigation for further possible charges," Sgt. English indicated. The 22-year-old Stovall was booked into the Will County Jail around 6:10 p.m. He resides in the 700 block of Richmond Street. On Friday afternoon, a Will County judge set bail at $50,000.
