Hilltop Celebrates Reading In March With Author/Illustrator Visit

Press release from the Inver Grove Heights Schools: March 24, 2022 Hilltop Elementary School has been celebrating reading during the month of March! As part of the celebration, author and illustrator Rick Chrustowski visited students virtually. He talked about the entire process of making a book, including developing ideas, doing research, writing, and creating the illustrations. Then he led students in writing their own stories and helped them illustrate their written pieces! Fourth- and fifth-grade students also did a series of interactive quick writing exercises with Mr. Chrustowski did a series of interactive quick writing exercises with fourth- and fifth-grade students that started with metaphors and ended with a short paragraph using personification.
