RI's Top Doctor Has Coronavirus; Gov. Raimondo In Quarantine

PROVIDENCE, RI — Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo is in quarantine after the state's top health official tested positive for the coronavirus Saturday. Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott, the director of the Rhode Island Department of Health, tested positive during routine surveillance testing, according to a statement from the governor's office. Alexander-Scott received her positive result Saturday and is asymptomatic, said Josh Block, Raimondo's director of communications. She will continue to work from home throughout her quarantine. Raimondo and "several members of her senior leadership team" were identified as close contacts and will quarantine in accordance with RIDOH recommendations.
