10 More RI Businesses Cited For Violating Coronavirus Regulations

PROVIDENCE, RI — More than 200 businesses in Rhode Island received perfect scores for coronavirus safety compliance in the last week of September, the Rhode Island Department of Health reported. Of the hundreds of businesses inspected, 10 were cited for violating regulations. Five of the businesses are in Providence, two are in Cranston, and one each in South Kingstown, Smithfield and Central Falls. Businesses are inspected by the COVID-19 Enforcement Task Force, a collaboration between the departments of Business Regulation and Health. A list of fully compliant businesses is available online. Violations fall into one of three categories: compliance orders, immediate compliance orders and combination orders. In addition to the 10 businesses, seven were sent "notes of compliance," meaning their previous compliance order was lifted following a reinspection. The now-compliant businesses are: Countryside Liquors, Pawtucket – Compliance order (now in compliance)Knights of Columbus, Lincoln - Combination compliance order, Immediate compliance order (now in compliance) EP Weiners, East Providence – Immediate compliance order (now in compliance)Tres Letras Hookah Lounge, Providence – Combination compliance order, Immediate compliance order (now in compliance) Ichigo Ichie Restaurant, East Providence - Combination compliance order, Immediate compliance order (now in compliance)La Tijera De Oro Barber Shop, Providence – Compliance order (now in compliance) Businesses who receive a compliance order can stay open, but must fix the issues immediately. More serious violations result in an immediate compliance order, which forces the business to close down until the violations are corrected. Combination orders allow the business to stay open, though a certain area must be closed. More information about the compliance orders is available on the DBR's website.
