JERSEY CITY — A man was struck and killed by a Hudson-Bergen Light Rail train around 12 a.m. on Monday, NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith said. Smith said the man was an adult pedestrian who was struck west of the Danforth Avenue stop. As of Monday morning, the man's age was unknown, Smith said. He said there were no injuries to the approximately two passengers and operator on the train at that time. The slow-moving train heads along the Jersey City waterfront between Bayonne and Liberty State Park, then can connect to Jersey City's financial district, Hoboken, and north. HBLR service was temporarily suspended in both directions between Danforth Avenue and Richard Street, but has since resumed, Smith said. New Jersey Transit Police are leading the investigation. Nearly a year ago, a woman was struck and killed by a light rail train further north near the Exchange Place station in Jersey City. Got news? Email [email protected].
