Boarding Kennel Receptionist/Assistant

Jobs

18 South Acres Rd near Pine Lane, El Cerrito CA

Description

Waiterock Pet Ranch, Lafayette's original doggie daycare and pet boarding facility, is looking for a dedicated dog and cat lover to join our talented, fun, hard-working team of pet care professionals! As a member of our care team, you will be caring for dog lodgers and doggie day campers and providing them with everything they need to stay happy and healthy. We provide safe, fun outdoor exercise in our play yards, fresh food and water throughout the day, medications as needed, sparkling clean and disinfected campsites for resting and sleeping, special play sessions, baths. We are looking for people to work primarily reception but who can pinch-hit in the kennel to cover sick leave and vacations. Dogs are fun but can be very messy, so you’ll be doing a lot of cleaning, dishes and laundry, be prepared for lots of exercise. This includes cleaning up pet waste, managing garbage/recycling/compost, and all the other non-glamorous stuff that comes with pet care. If you are squeamish about these types of things and don’t want to get your hands (and clothes) dirty, this is not the place for you. We are a small facility with a small staff and everyone digs in and helps each other to get the job done. We do cross train everyone in reception and in the "back" so that we have more flexibility when it comes to scheduling vacations, holidays, busy seasons. While previous professional pet care experience is highly desirable. What is required is personal experience having your own dog (and cat, too; that would be even better!), showing dogs, training dogs, veterinary technicians - you get the picture. If you don’t have a cat, you should still be comfortable handling them and being around them, since occasional cat handling is required. If you have any pet allergies whatsoever, this is not the place for you. Here are some other requirements for the position: * You must be vaccinated for Covid 19. *You must have a valid driver’s license. While you won’t need a car to work here, you may need to occasionally transport a dog to and from appointments. We are not near public transportation. *You must be able and willing to work weekends and holidays; this is not optional. We provide exceptional care to our loved pet clients 365 days per year (even on Sundays, and yes, even on Christmas day), so if you are not able or are unwilling to meet this requirement, please do not apply. We don't expect you to work every holiday or weekend but some are required. *Most shifts are 4- 8 hours long, some starting as early as 6:00 am and some ending as late as 8 pm. Ideal candidates are flexible with their availability and are willing to work both early morning and later afternoon/evening shifts. This is all a matter of scheduling so that everyone gets most of what they want. This is a great job for a student or some one who wants a second, part-time job. Please contact us via email and we'll set up a time to talk on the phone. If you could please let us know a little about your prior experience and current situation that would be helpful. We'll respond immediately and do look forward to speaking with you and joining our team. We would like to speak with folks who want to work anywhere from 2-3 days a week to five. Please reply to CL address and send a resume and/or statement of why you want to work here. Must show last few jobs.
