Description

PROVIDENCE, RI — Expect changes to the lane shifts on Interstate 95 south in Providence starting Friday. The current lane split at Exit 19, in place for construction on the Eddy Street bridge, will be removed Friday, and all lanes will be shifted to the right. The new traffic pattern is expected to be in place for about seven months. The lane shift will not impact the current traffic pattern on I-95 north at the Eddy Street bridge, where there are two lanes to the left and one to the right. The Rhode Island Department of Health said this traffic pattern will be shifted in October to two lanes to the right and one to the left. The Eddy Street bridge project is part of a project including five bridges in the area, two of which will be fully replaced. The total project costs $19.5 million and is set to be complete in May 2022.
