Description
This adorable guy is available for adoption through PAWS Chicago. You can find him on their website under the name Gavin.
He's been living with my husband and I and our mean, old cat for about a month now. He's doing well learning basic cues and learning to walk more nicely on leash.
He's an active guy who benefits from regular exercise and is always down to join you on a 5 mile hike, but he's also happy to snuggle on the couch and watch movies on those "no bones" days. He's super affectionate and cuddly and he absolutely will climb into your bed with you if you allow it (or even if you don't, he "sneaks" into ours every time we forget to close the door!). While he's a bit of a velcro dog when folks are home, he's perfectly fine on his own too. He's potty trained and never bothers our things when we're away.
He's a champion ratter, and he gets a little too excited when he sees another dog, so walks can be a little challenging in this densely-populated area, but we're working on it!
He's getting along well with my cantankerous, geriatric cat, but he will chase the alley cats, so whether or not he can live with a cat(s) will be on a case-by-case basis, as determined by PAWS.
He'd do best in a quiet home since he's not a fan of house guests. With a proper, outdoor introduction and some tasty treats, he warms up quickly and will allow his new friend inside, but without the introduction, he views guests as intruders he must keep out. Hopefully with time and an expanded circle of friends, he'll become a more welcoming host.
Feel free to email me for more details or to schedule a meeting, but all adoptions will have to be approved by PAWS Chicago, so visit their website and fill out an application for "Gavin"!
