POSITION SUMMARY: The Machine Operator will perform duties related to glass cutting, tempering, and handling in accordance with customer orders. All Machine Operators will be responsible for learning and working all facility stations as required safely and productively. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work is physical in nature requiring ability to lift up to 75 lbs on a regular basis. Responsible for operation of cutting, edging/seaming machines. Must produce a finished product within standard tolerance. Must have the ability to set up, operate and perform basic maintenance on all machines (cutter) within the department. Pre-stage raw material (glass) according to work orders and place finished product in appropriate staging areas in accordance with established glass handling guidelines. Gripping, cupping and clamping hand and wrist motions are required to support, carry and maneuver glass/objects to platform heights of three feet in a manner considered safe for self and others. Responsible for maintaining work area, inventory control, quality control in relation to the product being assembled, and meeting production needs set by management. MUST be dependable, hard-working, pro-active in performing assigned duties, ability to make sound decisions related to safety and have multi-task capabilities. Ability to perform repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment. Ability to be cross-trained to perform job duties of other work stations Perform other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent 1 year of manufacturing/production experience, preferred LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to use a forklift and overhead crane Ability to work professionally with others Meet productivity and quality standards Basic computer skills Experience with hand and power tools Mechanical aptitude Able to follow instructions PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
