Cranston Libraries Reopen To The Public

CRANSTON, RI — After a months-long closure caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Cranston libraries reopened to the public Monday. During phase two, capacity will be strictly limited, and all patrons will be required to wear a mask or fabric face covering. "We ask for the patience and understanding of our patrons, as we move into phase two," Director Edward Garcia said. During phase one, the libraries remained closed, but offered curbside pickup of library materials. Now in phase two, patrons can browse in-person, in a limited capacity. Certain areas will be unavailable, including stacks, seating areas and newspapers. At the Central Library, the C-Lab, Children's Room, Teen Room and children's space are closed. The children's area is closed at the Auburn branch, as well. The Edward Costa Memorial Arlington branch inside the Cranston Senior Enrichment Center is closed until further notice. Public computers will be available by reservation only, up to one hour of use. At all times, patrons are encouraged to practice social distancing, keeping at least 6 feet away from others and washing or sanitizing hands frequently. Branch hours are listed below.
