Job Title: Laminate Fabricator Summary: Responsible for fabrication of Square Edge laminate tops according to work order, reports errors to supervisor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Pull work order and countertop cores and splash from cart. Study and interpret work order. Interpret measurements, verify specifications. Pull laminate caps, bands and splash checking work order number and laminate color. Make sure laminate is free of scratches and defects. Prepare laminate bands and caps by sizing up and straight edge. Apply glue to edgebands and caps, then apply glue to the edges of the tops and splash that get laminate applied. Apply and press glued up edgebands and caps where specified. Trim the tops and splash with a laminate router, sand flush and clean the tops and splash. Go to cart and pull the deck laminate and splash faces that correspond to the work order. Check laminate for imperfections, defects, and scratches. Apply glue to the countertop and splash face laminate. Carefully place the sprayed parts on the drying rack. Apply glue to the countertop and splash cores, put down dowel rods on the countertop cores. Pull the laminate and place it on the tops and splash to be laminated. Square the laminate to the cores to ensure the entire piece is covered. Press laminate with a roller or other devise with enough pressure to knit the adhesive parts together. Trim the top and splash edges with the laminate router, file all edges to a smooth finish. Clean and package tops and splash place items on shipping cart for delivery. Report any shortages, backorders, and damage to supervisor or manager to ensure the issues are taken care of. Tend to equipment to ensure is it clean, free of debris and in good working order. Listen to instructions from supervisor. Resolve production and assembly issues. Ensure work area is clean and safe. Report low stock to supervisor. One year of verifiable production experience. Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Read a tape measure to the 1/16th. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Most work is performed in the assembly area in a typical manufacturing setting.
