Museum Custodian Part-time · $18 / hour 540 Water St, Port Townsend, WA 98368 Job Description This position will be the primary staff person responsible for Jefferson Museum Maintenance & Gallery Cleaning and may expand to other JCHS managed sites (Commanding Officer’s Quarters, Rothschild House and Research Center) after the trial period. Reports to Visitor Experience and Facilities Manager. Position Duties: •Sweeping/Vacuuming/Moping/Dusting •Cleaning Offices •Post Event Cleaning •Interior & Exterior window cleaning •Trash and Recycling •Specialize cleaning of galleries & historic spaces •Deep Cleaning/Organization Support with special / one-off maintenance projects as needed, which may include but is not limited to: •Interior patching and painting, •Exhibition furniture maintenance and installation, •Moving of file boxes, shop inventory & furniture within the Museum space, •Mowing & light grounds keeping •Additional work, which may include working on a tall ladder. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, have reliable transportation to / from Port Townsend, be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, and be willing to undergo a background check. Proposed regular schedule for work: 10-15 hours per week Thursday through Sunday, evenings starting at 4:30pm (after the museum is closed to the public), with adjustments to schedule available as needed when closed to the public. Additional hours may be needed / available upon approval as projects and funding allows. This is a Part Time Hourly position subject to a 30-day trial period.
