Does anyone have solid knowledge about places to camp on the southwestern area of the island? It appears that Polihale is open for day use but closed for camping? Bummer! We are looking for an experience similar to this; remote, warm and sunny, and thought there would be more to choose from. We will be in a camper van but also have a tent. I hear locals talk about how they just pull up to a spot and camp-however-is this regulated? Are cops crawling around all the time looking to bust people? Will we be fined? Would love any camping recommendations-or local tips-again looking for the sunnier and warmer side of the island, especially near the ocean-thank you!
