I had several sweaters under my belt and was in my second year of college when I took on a pattern that had something I couldn't comprehend in the instructions. I went to the store to ask them to show me how it was done and that's when I found out that I'd been throwing my stitch backwards for 10+ years. As they say, you're never too old to learn something new. I lived through the all acrylic years, the cotton years, and am now enjoying the wonders of marvelous fibers years. I love to share knitting knowledge with anyone who asks, and I love to continue to learn new techniques. When I was newly married and our budget was lean to where I had no money for fiber, I worked at a yarn shop in Bothell on the weekend and traded my hours for fibers. The hardest part about it isn't knitting in and of itself, it's learning to interpret a pattern and patience/confidence in your ability. Every knit item is really only crafted with a knit or a purl. Knitting isn't about making the most perfect craft/gift, it's about being in the moment with yourself or others. Enjoy it.
