Join us to connect with like-minded business leaders and learn more about the power of conscious culture. Check-in and networking will begin at 7:30 am. Speaker: Tom Walter Tom Walter is a serial entrepreneur, author, speaker and a principal in numerous companies. He is best known as the Chief Culture Officer (CCO) of Chicago-area Tasty Catering, a suburban corporate caterer and event planner that was recently named a Forbes Best Small Company in America, among many other accolades over the years. Tom has more than 40 years of experience as an owner and operator in the service industry. He has participated in the startup of 32 companies, is currently active in 9 of those startups that were cofounded by his staff, has acquired three and—in a few cases—has terminated businesses in a broad spectrum of markets. Tom remains a principal, investor and advisor for several companies, most of which are part of 80 Nine Holdings and have been co-founded by his staff. He is also the co-author of the award-winning book “It’s My Company Too!: How Entangled Companies Move Beyond Employee Engagement for Remarkable Results,” that is used in over 30 university’s curriculum. Tasty Catering Is one of the four major caterers in Chicago. In March of 2020, the Illinois Governor shut down the hospitality industry. Tom will tell the story about how Tasty Catering decided to stay open during the worst part of the pandemic in 2020 while their competitors were closing. He will share why he kept his staff on the payroll even though business dropped 85% (2020 compared to 2019). Their culture statement, primarily their core values, were the road map to surviving and thriving.
