In-person documentary screening and panel discussion to kickoff a local initiative that aims to foster racial equity in Washington, DC. Please note that this registration is for IN-PERSON ATTENDANCE ONLY. Please register here to attend virtually. Truth and Equity: Washington, DC — a new initiative of the Center for Community Resilience (CCR) in the Milken Institute School of Public Health at The George Washington University — aims to: 1) raise awareness about and dismantle the processes and systems that generate racial harm; 2) facilitate reconciliation through racial healing, and 3) strengthen collective will for reconstructing systems to facilitate more equitable policy and practice. To kick off the work, CCR is hosting a documentary screening and panel discussion on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 (5:00-8:00pm ET) at Jack Morton Auditorium. We will begin with the screening of a CCR-produced documentary that explores how structural racism harmed four Black communities in Cincinnati and offers a vision for systems transformation and policy change in support of racial equity. Immediately following, a panel of cross-disciplinary experts will engage in a discussion on the impacts of structural racism in Washington, DC, and the need for cross-sector, community-centered, systems-level approaches to repairing trauma, fostering equity, and building resilience. IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ THE BELOW CAREFULLY: Per George Washington University guidelines, all in-person attendees must be fully vaccinated and boosted (three doses total) and wear a mask. We will conduct vaccine card/ID checks at the door. You can complete your vaccine check ahead of time by downloading the CLEAR Health Pass app. This is not required, but will make check-in easier for you. For more information, view these FAQs. Additionally, there is limited seating at this event. Registering for in-person attendance does not guarantee a seat; however, it does place you on the waitlist for our seating lottery. We will notify in-person attendees one week prior to the event date. Those who are not able to attend in-person, are welcome to join us virtually.
