COVENTRY, RI — The Town of Coventry is expanding closures and cancellations following the announcement of nine new cases of the new coronavirus in Rhode Island. Several town facilities will be closed until further notice. The Coventry Public Library and Greene Public Library will be closed from March 16 to 22. Patrons are asked to call about scheduled events after they reopen. While the libraries are closed, the public is invited to check out their databases and resources available online. The Coventry Teen Center will be closed until further notice, and all Parks and Recreation events scheduled for April vacation are canceled. On Thursday, the town announced that the senior center and food bank would be closed for the near future to protect the elderly, who are more at risk of contracting the virus. Refunds will be given for canceled programs and to attendees who need to self-quarantine. To request a refund, email [email protected] or call 401-822- 9107.
