Volunteer Trail Day to repair access trail to Hillbilly Rock in Flatirons
The Flatirons Climbing Council (FCC) in association with City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) and the Boulder Climbing Community (BCC) will be hosting a volunteer trail day on Saturday, April 9 to repair the approach trail to Hillbilly Rock. This is part of a larger project being executed by the BCC's trail crew.
The recent route development at Hillbilly has made it a favorite destination for climbers, resulting in multiple social trails. The repair work will streamline the approach to one single trail and close off the remaining less sustainable trails.
The meeting point will be at the NCAR parking lot from 8:00am onwards. An FCC shirt will be handed out to all volunteers and lunch will also be provided courtesy of OSMP. We recommend that everyone bring closed toe footwear and have appropriate clothing for conditions (sun/rain, etc.). Work gloves and safety glasses are also recommended for those that have them. The trail work will encompass the use of landscaping tools, moving of rocks and dirt and other typical activities associated with trail building and repairs. Work will be supervised by OSMP and BCC's professional trail crew and all equipment and tools will be provided by OSMP.
