PLEASE know that there are dog fighters scouring these craigslist posts for bait animals to train their fighting dogs. I was hit up by one today inquiring very sweetly about a cat I posted for rehoming. They will send a girlfriend, mother, or someone who seems very nice to act as though they are just looking for a pet to love. Dog fighters love kittens but will also take older cats, bunnies, and other animals because it can be hard for them to find enough bait animals. Please charge a decent rehoming fee. Anyone can afford $20-30. Charge more than that. If someone cannot afford $45 or $50 for a pet, they will not be able to afford care for that pet in the long-term. Ask potential adopters lots of questions and do a home visit- you can arrange a meet and greet in the home of the adopter to know where your pet will be going for sure. Do it safely- tell someone where you will be and don't go alone. Charging a decent rehoming fee and going to the home where your beloved pet will be living, is a good way to ensure your pet doesn't end up in a horrible situation.
