You are invited to Public Affairs 2022 Richard Cole Symposium and Memorial Lecture.
Dr. Richard L. Cole’s sincere appreciation for service to others was exemplified in his teaching philosophy, generous mentoring, compassion, and dedication to helping junior faculty and students succeed. Richard was a much-loved teacher, as demonstrated by the many students who have pledged to be founding donors for his Memorial Fellowship.
The annual Richard L. Cole Memorial Lecture will include a dynamic symposium in honor of his life. Our topic this year is Social Equity as a key pillar in the study and practice of public administration. You are welcome to participate in the symposium, the memorial lecture, or both.

Guest Lecturer: Dr. Jade Berry-James
Bio:Dr. RaJade M. Berry-James is an elected Fellow of the congressionally chartered National Academy of Public Administration and Vice Chair of the Standing Panel of Social Equity in Governance. At NC State University, Berry-James is Chair of the Faculty and a Professor of Public Administration in the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA).
She has spent more than 30 years in higher education, having served as MPA Coordinator, PhD Coordinator, and Director of Graduate Programs for small, large and research-intensive graduate programs. Dr. Berry-James’ research, teaching, and community engagement focus on the theory and practice of social equity.
