Dance Forever! is the program title of Tekrema’s annual dance conference featuring artists from Louisiana, the African Diaspora and Africa. The 2022 conference is planned under the theme “Vyin Danse!” This phrase is Louisiana Creole for “Come Dance!” Dance Forever! 2022 Conference - Vyin Danse! will celebrate Louisiana’s traditional Black dance genres and those of African centered cultures that were born from the creolization of African cultures as a result of the European Slave Trade and colonization. Continuing Tekrema’s established standard of presentation, the event will feature local, national and international artists with expertises in traditional African and African Diaspora artistic genres and current creative expressions of those retentions. The standard for the presentation of Louisiana artists and their works remains those with lived, studied and researched, historically accurate practices, and importantly those that are aesthetically beautiful and entertaining.
