COVENTRY, RI — All Coventry students will have access to free breakfast and lunch this school year, the district announced ahead of the first day of school. Both in-school and at-home learners are eligible for the program. The meals will continue until Dec. 31 or as long as the USDA continues the program, the district said. At-home learners and kids under 18 can pick up meals two per week by filling out this flyer with the student's name and school building. It must be brought in at the time of pickup. Starting Monday, remote learners can pick up breakfast and lunch meals for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the courtyard of Coventry High School. On Thursdays, pick up meals for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. In-school students can also pick up weekend and Monday meals during Thursday pickup, simply let the staff know upon arrival. Starting Tuesday, in-person learners will receive free breakfast as they enter school or in their classroom. Elementary and middle school students will preorder their free lunch through their teacher in the morning for lunchtime delivery, while highschoolers will come to the service area to choose from available breakfast and lunch options. Anyone with questions can reach out to Paula Patton, the Sodexo general manger, by calling 401-217-8915 or emailing [email protected].
