Description
The Arizona Trauma Informed Faith Community is a group of individuals and organizations who meet monthly to grow, train, and network. The AZTIFC seeks to build resilient faith-based organizations in order to facilitate sensitive care, training, resource sharing, advocacy, and social movement; Not compromising our own faith traditions, but multiplying collaboration for the greater good of Tucson and the surrounding area. This meeting is a LIVE networking and discussion meeting (some of our monthly meetings are trainings) - we would love for you to join us! Typically we meet monthly on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 11AM-1PM. The meetings will be hosted at Hope City Church and free lunch for those attending live is included and provided by Pantano Christian Church. (A monthly invitation will be posted). This month: Introduction to the Strengthening Families - Protective Factors FrameworkStrengthening Families is a framework developed by the Center for the Study of Social Policy (CSSP) over the last decade to prevent child abuse and neglect. This approach helps child welfare systems, early education and other programs work with parents to build the following protective factors: • Parental resilience • Social connections • Concrete support in times of need • Knowledge of parenting and child development • Social and emotional competence of children . Protective factors are the strengths and resources that families can draw on when life gets difficult. Taking those good characteristics and building on them is a proven way to strengthen the entire family and thus decrease the likelihood of maltreatment. Each of the protective factors is essential, but most important is what they do together to create strength and stability in families. In this Introduction Course we will have the opportunity to explore all five protective factors and learn about seven program strategies that help families to build those protective factors. You will be encouraged to consider and reflect about what it means to work with families in a strength-based way - no matter your role in your community. You will also learn about some tools that will help you be more intentional in using the framework as an everyday part of your work and life. Know someone who may find this information valuable - feel free to invite them!
