The 2022 Memorial Day Murph will be held on May 28, 2022 at 0800hrs. This event is a fundraiser for the St. Jospeh County VA Clinic. In collaboration with the St. Joseph County Metro SWAT Team and Mishawaka Parks and Rec. the Hero WOD “Murph” will be conducted at Hero’s Park in Mishawka. Crossfit, as a workout program, has new ever-changing workouts each day (WOD; Workout of the Day). Crossfit incorporates honoring Heroes with “Hero WODs”. These workouts are frequently named after a fallen soldiers who had a passion for fitness. Arguably the most famous is “Murph” and is scheduled at most crossfit gyms for Memorial Day Weekend. "Murph"For time:1 mile Run100 Pull-ups200 Push-ups300 Squats1 mile Run In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, NY, who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005. This workout was one of Mike's favorites and he'd named it "Body Armor". From here on it will be referred to as "Murph" in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is. Start and finish with a mile run. Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. If you've got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it. While this workout, although on its surface, seems like a daunting task can be completed by most people with a minimal fitness level. The workout can be scaled to accommodate anyone who would like to participate. Spectators are encouraged. You can complete the workout as written, scale it, or complete it as a 2-4 person team. We will be conducting a competitive heat at 0800hrs for individuals and a Competitive heat for teams at 0915hrs. Starting at 1015hrs we will run waves of heats until everyone gets a chance to do the workout. The only two heats that will have judges are the 0800 and 0915. Bring the kids out and have a good time. There will be event sponsor tents, lots of food and drink, a DJ keeping the event up beat, a playground and you can try your luck on the Ninja Warrior course. Tickets are listed as “Free” a donation is required at www.paypal.me/sjcmswat2019murph to participate. All proceeds will be donated to the St. Joseph County VA Clinic. This is the fifth year for this annual event. Over the course of the events lifetime we have raised over $30,000.00 that was all donated to the St. Joseph County VA Clinic.
